What our name means...
Rulai, 如來, तथागत
The Chinese term for Tathāgata—a revered epithet of the Buddha—is deliberately paradoxical. It can be read in Sanskrit as either “one who has thus gone” (tathā-gata) or “one who has thus come” (tathā-āgata).
Buddhism deliberately keeps both, because the Tathāgata is:
- beyond ordinary coming and going
- beyond duality
- beyond time and place
- unmoved by chaos
- fully aligned with the nature of things (“thusness”)
We carry that spirit into travel by:
- Crafting immersive journeys that go far deeper than surface-level sightseeing; simply coming and going.
- Revealing China as it truly is—not the distorted version online.
- Guiding travelers into moments that feel timeless, still, and unmistakably real.
